Of late, the act of sharing something to make it viral on the social media has affected and put too much pressure on teachers.
The National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP) has urged all quarters not to attack schools or teachers on the social media.
Its president, Hashim Adnan said various allegations were levelled against school teachers and principals when an incident involving students and teachers occurred.
"There were too many videos and slanderous things on teachers that were rampant on the social media such as Facebook, WhatsApp application and others. Some were twisted by certain quarters," he said after chairing the Eighth NUTP Council Member Meeting (2014-2017) here Saturday.
Without specifying any issue, he said of late, the act of sharing something to make it viral on the social media had affected and put too much pressure on teachers.
Hashim said the image of the noble profession was smeared due to the action of some teachers, students and parents who deliberately exaggerated small issues on the social media.
Hashim also urged the students, parents or teachers to use the correct channel if they were unhappy with any matter involving the school.
Meanwhile, NUTP secretary-general Datuk Lok Yim Pheng urged the ministry to brief teachers clearly and in detail, on the Secondary School Standard Curriculum (KSSM) which would be implemented next year as teachers were not given the right explanation.
The KSSM was launched in 2012 to support an enhanced learning path for high-performing students to complete the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in four years, instead of five.
Apart from that, she said the union was still waiting to meet with the ministry's Text Book Division to air several issues pertaining to text books.
"So far, there are 20 issues such as the use of old syllabus, inappropriate terminology and contents of textbooks that are not right," she said.
