The marital conflict between Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Nurul Izzah Anwar and husband Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim remains unresolved although discussions had been held through the reconciliation committee (JKP) on May 26.
This followed the defendant, Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar standing by his decision not to divorce his wife, whom he married in 2003.
Earlier, Lower Syariah Court judge Ab Malek Awang said according to the JKP report, the conflict between Nurul Izzah (plaintiff) and her husband began in 2005, two years after they married and the couple now had two children.
"The crisis between the two has continued until today and they have not lived together since April 17," he said when reading out the report prepared by Hazman Hashim, assistant director/counsellor at the Marriage and Development Division of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi).
"The plaintiff wants to proceed with the divorce due to irreconcilable differences but the defendant does not agree (to divorce).
"As such, the JKP leaves it to the court to decide as there is no reconciliation between the two," he said.
Ab Malek fixed August 7 for re-mention of the case.
