The public and private sectors are encouraged to set up nurseries (taska) as a support system to working parents specifically for mothers who are breast-feeding their babies.

National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) director-general Datuk Dr Siti Norlasiah Ismail said the move was crucial to enable women with careers to breast-feed their children at least for a year.

"With taska facilities at the workplace the career women feel there is support for them to breast-feed their children and dispelling worry about being away from their young children.

"We want the group to be close to their children other than spurring them to boost the quality of their services," she told a media conference on the 2017 Mother's Day celebration at Wisma Bernama here Friday.

According to Siti Norlasiah, some women with career had to quit their jobs due to time constraints and problem related to their child-care which resulted in wastaqe of skilled manpower among women. - Bernama
