He said those who made allegations connected to this practice were just trying to undermine UMNO.
It is normal practice for a political leader to hold money in trust for his party, said UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
"Yes, (it is normal) in any party," he told reporters after launching the Oval Damansara Building, Monday when asked about Datuk Seri Najib Razak holding donations in trust for Umno.
He said those who made allegations connected to this practice were just trying to undermine UMNO.
Tengku Adnan said the accusations being hurled at the Prime Minister and UMNO president were "a political game to weaken the party".
"UMNO is a 69-year-old party with 3.7 million members that has faced many challenges and is still standing strong.
"We know that some people want us to fail. We will make sure, whatever we are supposed to do, we will do it right, do it for the nation, and do it for the future of our country," he said.
