So far, no Malaysians are known to be involved in the crash of the Russian plane belonging to Kogalymavia Airlines, in Sinai, Egypt on Saturday.
The Malaysian embassy in Cairo was monitoring the situation, Wisma Putra said in a statement, here, today.
It also expressed its condolences and deep sympathy to the Russian government and its people, especially the bereaved family members on their terrible loss.
"Malaysia is saddened to learn of the crash of Flight KGL9268 in Sinai that killed all 224 people on board," the statement said.
The Airbus A-321 plane, carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members, vanished from radar screens after 23 minutes taking off at 5.51am (0751 GMT) from Sharm el-Sheikh on its way to the Russian city of St Petersburg.
