The government will announce new special assistance for Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans to help ease their burden, says Defence Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Baharom
Without going into details, he said the matter would be announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak when the time was right.
"Our ministry (defence ministry) has tried to talk with the prime minister on how to help veterans, including those not pensionable. There are some incentives to be announced to help veterans.
"Wait for an announcement soon," he told Bernama after attending a get-together programme, 'Defence Deputy Minister together with Royal Malaysian Navy Staff and Veterans' here Tuesday.
At the event, Mohd Johari handed over wheelchairs to four MAF veterans stricken with health problems.
Meanwhile, the deputy minister said the facility, 'Electronic Medical Automated Supply System' or e-MASS provided to veterans to obtain medical supplies and aid had been temporarily stopped for the purpose of upgrading. -- Bernama
