Najib, Xi hold closed-door talks

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today held closed-door talks with visiting President Xi Jinping of China at the Perdana Putra Building here.
Xi arrived there at 10.40 am and was welcomed by Najib, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Malaysia's special representative to China Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting.
Xi and Najib posed for photographs in front of the building before proceeding to Level Five for their meeting, which is most likely to touch on bilateral matters of common interest.
Xi arrived yesterday on his maiden state visit to Malaysia, demonstrating China's commitment to maintain cordial Kuala Lumpur-Beijing ties at the highest level since diplomatic relations were established 39 years ago.
The visit also reflects the commitment of the two countries to strengthen cooperation in all fields and contribute to prosperity and maintain peace and stability in the region.
Trade between China and Malaysia hit a historic high of US$94.8 billion in 2012. China has been Malaysia's biggest trading partner over the last four years while Malaysia has been China's top trading partner in Asean over the past five years.
