The flood situation in Kelantan has worsened, with 21,328 evacuees (from 6,933 families) at 84 relief centres this morning compared to 19,186 last night.
According to the state government's flood portal, Pasir Mas has the highest number of flood evacuees at 12,008 housed in 35 relief centres compared to 11,079 last night.
In Tumpat, the number of flood evacuees has risen to 5,229 from 3,861 after Sungai Golok at Rantau Panjang overflowed, with the reading now at 10.27 metres, exceeding the danger level of 9 metres.
With the cloudy weather and occurring intermittent heavy downpour, more flood victims may have to be evacuated, especially in the interior areas.
However, the number of flood victims at eight relief centres in Kuala Krai has gone down to 1,928 from 2,452 previously.
In Pasir Puteh, there are now 619 flood victims at four relief centres, Tanah Merah (619/14 centres), Kota Baharu (336/4 centres) and Jeli (216/4 centres).
There are no major roads closed to traffic, while the number of deaths due to this second wave of floods in the state since Dec 16, remains at four.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department director, Azmi Osman reminded residents to follow the order to evacuate if their area is flooded and for them, especially the children, not to play in the flood waters to avoid any untoward incident.
In Terengganu, 860 flood evacuees returned to their homes yesterday after the flood waters receded, while the number housed at 100 relief centres dropped from 7,508 last night to 6,746 this morning.
According to the Terengganu National Security Council portal, Besut is still the worst affected, with 2,459 flood avacuees from 736 families, followed by Dungun (2,281 from 608 families) and Kemaman (1,295 from 345 families).
The other affected districts are Hulu Terengganu (429 from 123 families), Setiu (124 from 30 families), Kuala Terengganu (118 from 28 families) and Marang (40 from 12 families).
Meanwhile, the state Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) reported this morning that the water level in a number of major rivers in Terengganu had exceeded the danger level.
In Besut, the river water level at Jambatan Permaisuri was at 8.74 metres, which was above the warning level and nearing the danger level of 8.8 metres.
The water level in Sungai Marang at Kampung Pengkalan Berangan reached 2.34 metres, above the danger level of 2.3 metres, while Sungai Setiu at Kampung Langkap was at 22.07 metres, exceeding the danger level of 21.5 metres.
Sungai Berang at Kuala Ping was at 19.90 metres, above the warning level of 19.3 metres and approaching the danger level of 20 metres.
The DID said the water levels in several other rivers were at the warning level and residents were advised to be careful as rain had poured again, especially in the interior areas.
