Prasarana Malaysia Berhad today said that the stampede incident in Mina, was not related to the train services operated by the company in Makkah.

In denying the allegations on social media, Prasarana said the victims who perished in the incident were not from countries that were using the train services.

“We wish to request the public to verify statements related to the incident with the authorities or official channels before sharing them in the social media.

“We also wish to offer our condolences to the family members of the pilgrims who perished. Our thoughts and prayers are also with those who are injured.

“May they recuperate swiftly from their injuries,” said Prasarana in a statement today.

On Thursday, more than 700 pilgrims were reportedly killed while hundreds more were injured in a stampede near the campsite of pilgrims from Arab countries.

No Malaysian pilgrims involved in the incident.

The stampede, the second deadly accident to hit the pilgrims this month following a crane collapse in Mecca, broke out during the symbolic stoning of the devil ritual.
