The police are investigating the identity of a man called "Yassin" said to be the main agent of a human trafficking syndicate, said Kedah police chief Datuk Zamri Yahya.
He said Yassin is believed to be a key figure and was directly involved in the activity, and the police were now gathering information to verify his identify.
Recently Bernama reported that transit camps were found by the authorities in the forest of Wang Kelian, Perlis, believed to be used to house human trafficking victims bought by a major syndicate agent known as 'Yassin'.

Commenting on the porous national border, he said police had issued orders to border personnel to tighten control.
"We will take action against anybody who did not adhere to the directive," he said.
