Man, two sons held in gang rape case involving school girl

LAI: We are tracking down the remnants of the group which had raped the schoolgirl.
A man and his two sons have been detained in connection with the gang rape of a 15-year-old schoolgirl at an empty house in Ketereh on May 20.
The suspects aged between 15 and 38 were picked up at a house in Ketereh.
Another suspect, in his 20s was also nabbed this morning.
They are among 13 people picked up to shed light on the case in which 38 men had allegedly raped the schoolgirl, from Kuala Krai, about 7.30am at the house.
Kelantan CID chief ACP Lai Yong Heng said nine people, including the man and his sons, were remanded this morning.
A 17-year-old girl, believed to be an accomplice of the suspected rapists, was remanded yesterday when she lodged a report at the Kota Baharu police headquarters that she was also raped in the incident.
"We are tracking down the remnants of the group which had raped the schoolgirl.
"The man who was detained this monring would be remanded tomorrow," Lai told reporters here today.
In another case, the police have detained a youth and his friends for allegedly beating up two suspects who were believed to have raped his 12-year-old sister, five days ago in Tawang, Bachok.
The first suspect, aged 28, was attacked in Tumpat. He has been warded at the intensive care unit of Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian.
The other suspect, aged 22, was assaulated in Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Baharu before he was admitted to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital. His condition was described as "not serious".
Lai said the police had detained the girl's brother and several of his friends to facilitate investigations into the alleged rape.
