Man plunges to death from MRT scaffolding in Jalan Duta

A discussion between two drivers whose vehicles were involved in an accident on Jalan Duta, outside the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) worksite, ended in tragedy when one of them climbed up the scaffolding there and jumped to his death.
According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Legal staff officer, DSP S. Markandan, in the incident around noon, the victim, Ngah Yung Chen, was talking to another driver before he suddenly climbed the MRT scaffolding and plunged from a height of a four-storey building.
"Police found the body of a 39-year-old man at the scene. He had died from severe head and body injuries," he said when contacted by Bernama.
The body was sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre. Markandan said further investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of death and police had classified the case as sudden death.
Meanwhile, Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) in a statement confirmed the incident at the MRT project worksite in Jalan Duta.
"The MRT project traffic team assisted by moving the two cars to the side of the road. The New Jersey barriers were moved so that the cars did not obstruct traffic flow," it said.
It added that during the incident, the site was properly cordoned of by New Jersey barriers and no construction work was being carried out at the location.
