KUALA LUMPUR: A heartwarming display of solidarity and compassion was witnessed as Malaysians came together to raise an RM108,281.50 in just 48 hours for the Malaysia4Palestine pop-up channel.

Spearheaded by Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (Astro) and in collaboration with Malaysia’s national broadcaster, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), the initiative was aimed to support the Akaun Amanah Kemanusiaan Rakyat Palestin (AAKRP), providing crucial aid to Palestinians enduring the harsh realities of war.

The funds, collected during the Malaysia4Palestine campaign held from May 25 to May 26, 2024, were officially handed over to AAKRP today, during the launching of the Humanitarian Assistance for Palestine programme, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Putrajaya.

The event was graced by the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan.

The Malaysia4Palestine broadcast was a beacon of hope and empathy, offering free access on Astro TV (channel 111), Astro GO, sooka, and RTM Klik. For a full day, Malaysians were united by stories of resilience, solidarity, and the undying human spirit.

The campaign’s success attested the power of community, with over 100 local luminaries from diverse fields—film, TV, music, digital media, and humanitarian work—rallying for the cause.

Icons such as Dato’ M. Nasir, Datuk Aznil Hj. Nawawi, Dato' Dr. Ahmad Faizal Perdaus, Dato’ Aaron Aziz, Dr. Soo Wincci, Alif Satar, Lisa Surihani, Denes Kumar, Datuk Syafinaz Selamat, Elizabeth Tan, Sherry Alhadad, Ceddy Ang, Nadhir Nasar, Meerqeen, Naim Daniel, Mira Filzah, Bella Astillah, Ella, Thomas Kok, and Nabil Ahmad lent their voices and presence, transforming the broadcast into a moving tapestry of unity and hope.
Extending its reach, the Malaysia4Palestine campaign was also broadcasted on RTM’s Klik, NJOI, Gempak, XUAN, and Astro Ulagam, ensuring that the message of solidarity resonated across the nation.
