There are Malaysians who only start doing physical activities when they have contracted diseases, not because exercises are part of their lifestyle, says Health Minister.
A Health Ministry study reveals that many Malaysians only start exercising in their 40s and 50s due to health related issues caused by an unhealthy lifestyle.
Its minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said they would start doing physical activities such as walking or jogging after being informed by their doctor of their health problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and diabetes.
"However at the same time, some of them have already find it difficult to move.
"This shows there are Malaysians who only start doing physical activities when they have contracted diseases and not because exercises are part of their lifestyle," he said.
He was speaking after witnessing the presentation of a dialysis machine and two hi-flow nasal cannula units to Putrajaya Hospital from Sun Life Malaysia Bhd and Cuepacs here today.
