NAJIB: The MH17 tragedy in the holy month of Ramadan is a test for Malaysians, including myself.
Malaysia's dignity has remained intact following the success in removing Flight MH17 crash victims from Ukraine's restive region and recovering the two black boxes of the aircraft.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the success proved that despite being a small country, Malaysia would uphold its dignity in any situation, including when negotiating with the separatists.
"Alhamdulillah, the remains of the crash victims and the two black boxes had been handed over to the Malaysian government," he said at a breaking of fast and presentation of contribution by the Pekan MP and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) at Masjid Tanjung Medang, here Thursday.
Najib said the MH17 tragedy in the holy month of Ramadan is a test for Malaysians, including himself.
"This test given to us by Allah is on top of the hunger and thirst. I had to tackle the MH17 tragedy until two to three in the morning by contacting foreign leaders including separatist leader Alexander Borodai.
"May we all continue to receive the grace of Allah even though we are always tested," he added.
At the function, Najib also sample some 'pulut kuning' to mark his 61st birthday anniversary on Wednesday.
