Malaysia should adopt useful lessons from the COVID-19 outbreak in the country and become even better in the future.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that the change needed to be made with utmost courage.
"And this requires courage in terms of leadership, willingness to change, people's response to our policies, and support from industry, and businesses to help, so that our goals can be achieved," he added.
The Prime Minister said this in an exclusive interview with Astro AWANI Editor Essan Yahya and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) presenter Zaleha Khairene Ismail at the Putra Putra Building here recently. The interview was aired tonight.
Muhyiddin further said that in order to ensure that the country has an exit strategy, it was important to ensure that it was not acting in a hurry to an extent of resulting in continuous risks to the country.
“I warn (the Cabinet) that while we are nearing a point of recovery, we don’t want those previously behind us are suddenly ahead of us just because our strategy is wrong, our steps are not right or our actions are not working, or our policies are not on target. This is what we are thinking.
“That is why no matter what the circumstances are, we have to plan in an orderly manner. And this requires wisdom, even courage. Don't just do it for the sake of doing and expect something good," he said.
For that reason, the Prime Minister said expert services were used by the government to make any decision on exit strategies, which would really be effective, and to take into account any future possibilities.
