Malaysia logs 4,759 new COVID cases, nine deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: As of midnight Tuesday (July 27), Malaysia identified 4,759 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the overall total to 4,659,710 since the pandemic hit the country.
Based on the data from the COVIDNOW portal, 4,756 of the infections were local transmissions, while three were imported cases.
The highest number of cases yesterday was recorded in Kuala Lumpur (1,840) followed by Selangor (1,447).

Currently, there are are 46,260 active cases, of which 52 patients were admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 28 of them in need of ventilator support.
The country registered nine new deaths yesterday, bringing the death toll to 35,932.
Malaysia administered a total of 16,656 vaccine doses on Tuesday.
About 85.9 percent of the nation have received at least one dose, with 84 percent fully inoculated.
Meanwhile, 49.5 percent have received their first booster dose, and about 0.9 percent have received their second booster jab.
