Malaysia logs 4,098 new COVID-19 cases, 8 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia registered a total of 4,098 new daily COVID-19 infections as of midnight Thursday (July 15).
This takes the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in the country to 4,608,768 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020.
Based on the data from the COVIDNOW portal, there were five imported cases while 4,093 of the new cases were local transmissions.
Kuala Lumpur takes the lead with a total of 1,485 infections reported, followed by Selangor (1,069), Negeri Sembilan (276), Perak (274), Sabah (181), Penang (160) and Malacca (142).
Other states that recorded a two-digit number were Kedah (99), Putrajaya (95), Johor (94), Pahang (80), Kelantan (56), Sarawak (43), Terengganu (24) and Perlis (11), while Labuan had nine cases.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 2,071 new recoveries, taking the total number of those recovered and discharged to 4,534,019.

According to MOH, there were eight COVID-related deaths yesterday, with two confirmed as brought- in- dead.
The country has lost a total of 35,836 people to the virus so far.
Malaysia administered a total of 16,064 COVID-19 vaccine doses on Thursday while 85.9 per cent of the nation have received at least one dose, 83.8 per cent are fully inoculated, 49.5 per cent have received the first booster and 0.6 per cent have received the second booster jab.
