Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom has called on the authorities to immediately ban the Lamb of God band performance scheduled in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 28.

Citing his support for the Islamic Development Department's objection to the United States' heavy metal band from performing in the capital, he said the authorities should make a prompt decision as the public was against it.

"The concert can cause untold harm and moral decadence among young people. If the licence had been issued, it should be withdrawn. Check who issued the licence.

"Apart from Jakim, Muslim NGOs (non-governmental organisations) have also called for the concert to be banned," he told reporters during meet-the-people session in Sungai Limau Dalam near here today.

Jakim in a statement said the Lamb of God had drawn many controversies and was dubbed a 'satanic' band that fitted evil spirituality and anti-godliness even by the Christian community.
