The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail wants a higher level of cleanliness and liveliness at the pasar malam or night markets in the state to attract tourists.

Hence, he hopes the pasar malam operators will undertake initiatives to ensure a conducive and inviting environment for local visitors and tourists.

Launching the Chinese New Year Bazaar at the 1Malaysia Pasar Malam at Dataran Mahkota here Tuesday night, Tuanku Faizuddin said among the measures could be installing decorative lights and signboards, landscaping and providing proper parking facilities.

He said such efforts should start from now in anticipation of the Malaysia Games 2014 taking place in Perlis, besides other big events.

He also hoped that all facilities in need of repair or replacement at the pasar malam site would be attended to by the local authority as the state would also be holding the 70th birthday celebration of the Raja of Perlis.

Also present at the launch were Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu.
