A factory consultant pleaded not guilty in the Ampang Sessions Court here today to a charge of causing hurt on her Indonesian maid by pulling out the latter’s teeth with a plier.
Ong Su Ping Serene, 47, is charged with committing the offence on Meriance Kabu, 32, at a house in Persiaran Pandan 7, Pandan Jaya, between April 11 and Dec 20, 2014.
The charge, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for up to 20 years and is liable to fine or whipping, if found guilty.
Ong also pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempting to murder the Indonesian maid at the same place at noon on Dec 20 last year, a charge made under Section 307 of the Penal Code which carried a maximum imprisonment for 20 years, if found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurakmal Farhan Aziz, who prosecuted, offered Ong bail at RM30,000 with one surety for both charges and for her to surrender her travel documents to the court.
Ong's counsel, William Edwin, when requesting for a lower bail, said his client had to take care of her ailing grandmother.
Judge Unaizah Mohd then set bail at RM15,000 with one surety for both charges.
She also ordered Ong to surrender her passport to the court and to report to the nearest police station at the end of every month.
The court set Feb 5 for mention.
