The third series of the Malaysia-United States Amphibious Exercise, dubbed 'Tiger Strike Exercise 2016' which ended today, is viewed as an important operation to strengthen interoperability between the Malaysian and US militaries and improve the skills of personnel.
Royal Malaysian Navy Chief, Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said throughout the five-day exercise held in Kampung Tanduo since Nov 9, mutual understanding in terms of planning, training and joint operations were established.
"This exercise involved various training phases such as staff exercise (Stafex) and Field Traning Exercise (FTX) which covered landings and amphibious attacks, as well as practical training in jungle survival," he said in a statement here.
He said the defence cooperation between the US and Malaysia was getting stronger and more solid.
"The US has a wealth of experience in warfare and we on the other hand, have experience in humanitarian aid, and from this (exercise), we can share our experiences," he added.
The exercise this time involved 570 personnel, comprising 341 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and 229 members of the US Marine. -- BERNAMA
