Secret Recipe Manufacturing Sdn Bhd confirmed that the loss of its halal certificate is due to the renovation and upgrading of its central kitchen as part of its expansion plan.
Secret Recipe on its Facebook posted that the halal certification has been retracted by the Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
The company has issued an assurance that the ingredients and preparation of products as well as its food are in accordance to the Halal Certification Standards of Malaysia.
According to a statement posted on Jakim’s official Facebook Tuesday, the withdrawal which took effect on May 7 was not due to violations involving hygiene offense and not to any misuse of impermissible (haram) substances in the ingredients.
