The National Co-operative Organisation of Malaysia (Angkasa) has been urged to study the problem of teachers' salary deduction which was not carried out last month, to prevent a repeat.
The National Union Of Teaching Profession (NUTP) president Hashim Adnan said the salary deduction in April was, among others, for the payment of insurance, housing and personal loans of 70,000 to 80,000 teachers in Perak, Johor, Terengganu and Selangor.
He said due to the problem, the teachers who were mostly working in the interior areas, would be facing problems when they had to make payment manually at locations which were far from their places of work.
"Despite being viewed as a minor issue, it must be given serious attention because pay deductions were not made and will bring many problems to the individuals concerned and to insurance, finance and loan companies.
"Normally, insurance companies will impose a penalty and if there is a mishap, claims cannot be made, because the insurance premium for that month was not paid," he told reporters at a media conference here on Monday.
