KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) will draw up new guidelines to ensure that the Hardcore Poor Housing Projects (PPRT) can be carried out this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Deputy Rural Development Minister I Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said currently, there are no contractors who want to build PPRT houses due to price issues.
"Currently, a PPRT house is worth RM67,000 each, and no contractors are willing to build it," he said during the question and answer session.
Abdul Rahman was replying to a supplementary question from Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Sharif (BN-Jempol) on whether the ministry was planning to increase allocation to ensure PPRT houses costing RM56,000 each could be completed.
Meanwhile, replying to a question from Noorita Sual (PH-Tenom), he said that KPLB has no problematic projects in Sabah and the ministry always holds discussions as well as cooperates with the state government to ensure that any project is implemented according to plan.
