More than 200 four-wheel drive (4x4) vehicles from all over Sabah are participating in the three-day Kota Belud Off Road Challenge programme being held at Kampung Rosok Rantai near here from yesterday.
The extreme sports activity is a collaboration between Rosok OffRoad Club and Tiger Team Club with participants coming from Kota Belud, Lahad Datu, Kota Kinabalu, Ranau, Tawau, Tuaran and Kota Marudu. .
Rosok OffRoad Club president Deuke Rais Jaujip said the programme themed 'Save our Lives' was held openly for the first time and various events were lined up including a blood donation drive and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes that included distributing food aid baskets.
"This programme not only aims to gather fans and owners of 4x4 vehicles, but is seen to be able to be a platform to encourage tourism activities around Kota Belud which is already famous for rural tourism," he told Bernama here today
The flagging-off ceremony was officiated by Sabah Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy. Also present were Tempasuk assemblyman Mohd Arsad Bistari and Pintasan assemblyman Fairuz Renddan.
