Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad auxiliary police seized several fake firearms while scanning passenger luggage at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Sunday .

According to source, the baggages were checked in at the KL Sentral Air Terminal at 10am Sunday for a MAS flight to Kota Kinabalu at 10.20 the same night.

The two baggages filled with fake firearms were registered under the name of a Filipino .

"The passenger, however, did not turn up for boarding and the baggages were removed," the source told Astro Awani.

Among the fake firearms seized were three rifle shoots including medium-range type sniper, nine pistols equipped with wind petals ammunition, two stun guns and various weapon assembly components .

Two separate police reports were lodged later at the KLIA police station.

Sepang district police chief ACP Abdul Aziz Ali when contacted by Astro Awani confirmed the incident, saying all the weapons seized were counterfeit items.

A thorough investigation is being conducted to trace the passenger concerned. The case is being investigated under the Firearms Act 1960 .
