Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah brought smiles to the less fortunate individuals today when he visited them at the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MUIP) Asnaf Complex in Sungai Soi here.
The King, who drove himself to the complex, which has 40 occupants, arrived at 12.50 pm and was welcomed by MUIP secretary, Datuk Ahmad Hairi Hussain and manager, Nor Rosyidah Mohamed Tahir.
In his brief address to the occupants, Al-Sultan Abdullah also shared the information on the dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic and advised all occupants to play their part in helping the government to completely break the chain of COVID-19 in the country.
“I call on all occupants here to observe personal hygiene and safety by frequently washing your hands and to take necessary precautions to ensure that COVID-19 will not get here,” he said.
During the visit, Al-Sultan Abdullah also presented donations to the occupants of the complex, aged between two and 95 years.
Meanwhile, Abdul Latif Lim Abdullah, 44, a disabled person, admitted he was excited to personally meet Al-Sultan Abdullah whom he used to see only on the television.
“It was very nice to see His Majesty up close like that. I was quite nervous to be near to the King because I was not used to be near the royalties,” he told Bernama.
Another occupant, Norsalmiah Boon, 47, said Al-Sultan Abdullah’s visit was really a morale booster for her and her friends at the complex, and they were really touched by His Majesty’s caring personality.
“There was no secret about the caring personality and warmth of Pahang royal family members and I feel so lucky to get to experience this myself when Al-Sultan Abdullah himself came to visit us here,” she said.
Prior to this, Al-Sultan Abdullah had also visited two poor families in Pekan in conjunction with MUIP’s ‘Ziarah Kurniaan Ampun Kasih’ Programme. - BERNAMA
