KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry (KDN) will call Malaysiakini and China Press soon to seek clarification and further information on news reports pertaining to the "rape joke" issue.
It takes seriously the inaccurate media reports published by the local news portal and newspaper regarding the statement made by deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani yesterday.
"KDN advises media practitioners to maintain good principles of journalism to preserve the integrity of reports published," said KDN in a statement today.
Bukit Aman today described the headline of Acryl Sani's statement on the issue of the rape joke by Malaysiakini and China Press as very confusing and did not give an accurate picture of the actual statement made by the deputy IGP.
Royal Malaysia Police corporate communications secretariat's Supt A. Skandaguru in a statement said the headline of the news report only referred to part of the response in the statement.
