Johor politician charged with taking methamphetamine

A Johor politician was charged at the magistrate's court here today for allegedly taking methamphetamine last year.
Datuk Mohamed Mustafa Abdul Kadir, 57, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him before magistrate Mohd Firdaus Saleh.
He was charged with taking methamphetamine at Narcotics Criminal Investigation division, Melaka police headquarters at 6pm on Aug 1, last year.
He is charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides a jail sentence of up to two years and a maximum fine of RM5,000 or both.
Court granted RM2,000 bail with one surety and set Apr 27 for case mention and submission of documents.
Mohamed Mustafa was represented by counsel Salmi Hamdan Sabran while deputy public prosecutor Shazreen Nadia Saaban prosecuted.
