MOSCOW: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday that his unexpected visit to Kyiv on June17 was to show London's support at a time when other countries start getting tired of the Ukraine issue.
"It is very important to go to Ukraine in particular during this critical time. The worry that we have is that a bit of Ukraine fatigue is starting to set in around the world," Sputnik quoted Johnson as saying in a televised appearance at the airport, aired by Sky News.
The UK prime minister went to Kyiv and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for military aid talks on Friday. A day prior, the leaders of Germany, France and Italy visited Ukraine and met with Zelenskyy in what many considered a bid to convince Kyiv to negotiate with Moscow.
The three European leaders endorsed that Ukraine be granted EU candidate status, and the European Commission issued a formal recommendation of the same on Friday.
