Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the state government would also not compromise with falsification of marriage certificates.
The state government will tighten the procedure to issue marriage certificates to avoid false certificates from
proliferating.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the state government would also not compromise with falsification of marriage certificates and hoped those involved in the activity would endeavour to seek genuine certificates.
"We will be more careful after this and will ensure the process of issuing marriage certificates is more carefully done and tighter. We want to ensure all procedures are followed.
"It does not apply only to marriage certificates, but to all aspects including applications to seek employments whereby we will ensure the certificates submitted are scrutinised," he told reporters after opening the handing over of Raya Fund vouchers in the Seberang Takir State Assembly constituency here, today.
Recently, the newspaper reported that a syndicate in the state was issuing fake marriage certificates which was master-minded by three civil servants including a Terengganu Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) officer.
In another development, Ahmad Razif said the state government would open an Institut Al-Quran (IQ) branch in Seberang Takir, about 10km from Kuala Terengganu, to provide opportunities for youths to study the Quran.
He said IQ, which would be opened after Hari Raya Aidilfitri, would be a pioneer for other areas aspiring to open such a study centre.
"For starters, we will recruit 50 students in two classes to give the chance for youths or those already working to attend Quran classes.
"We will open such centres elsewhere if the project is successful in Seberang Takir," he said.
Ahmad Razif said the state government would accept any quarter keen to open Quran classes by providing their own building facilities and water and electricity supplies while the government would provide the teaching manpower.
