Isa Ab Hamid sworn in as senator

Pahang Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) Director, Isa Ab Hamid was today sworn in as a Member of the Senate for the first term from 2016 until 2019.
Isa, 49, took his oath of office before Dewan Negara President Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.
Abu Zahar, in his welcoming his speech, hoped Isa would continue to deepen his knowledge and skills in championing the cause of the Orang Asli.
"I believe by enhancing his knowledge and skills, the Member of the Upper House could strengthen, empower, respect and follow the procedures for the House," he said.
Prior to his appointment as a Senator, Isa had served as a teacher and held the post of Assistant Director of Social Studies at the Johor Education Department.
When met by reporters at the Parliament lobby, he said he would continue to champion the cause of the Orang Asli and bring up the problems faced by them.
"I will assist the government in improving the development of land for the Orang Asli in order to raise their income and will assist in the educational and socio-economic sectors of the community," he added.
