The two security officers who were injured in an overnight gunbattle with Sulu gunmen at Kampung Tanjung Batu have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said that they were carried out from Ops Daulat operation area at 8am today by a police helicopter.

“One of them was injured on his thigh while the other was injured on his left leg. They were accompanied by an Armed Forces medical officer,” he said at a press conference at Felda Sahabat 16 today.

Earlier, Sabah Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib the duo, both 25, are from the Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA).

He also said that the attack happened between 8pm to 4am today morning.

No reports of death were recorded during the incident.
