Indonesian President sends condolences to families of crew members on sunken submarine

JAKARTA: Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Monday expressed condolences to the families of the 53 crew members aboard the missing submarine that has been found on the seafloor of the Bali Sea.
The Indonesian military confirmed on Sunday afternoon that the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine, that went missing on Wednesday, had been found on the seafloor of the Bali Sea, and that the vessel had been broken into three parts.
The military also said all the crew members aboard the vessel were dead, Xinhua news agency reported.
In an address to the nation, the president promised the government will be responsible for the education of the children of the crew members.
He also expressed his gratitude to the national and foreign rescuers who helped in the search for the submarine.
The Indonesian military is now discussing the salvage of the submarine wreckage.
