LIOW: Road safety is of paramount importance
The implementation of the much debated Drivers' Education Curriculum (KPP) and the increase of driving school fees has been put on hold now, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
He said the Road Transport Department had undertaken considerable research and work in order to create a new KPP that would ensure a new standard for road safety in Malaysia.
"However, the RTD has been asked to undertake further studies to review the curriculum and its costs," Liow had tweeted.
He added that the road safety is of paramount importance to reduce the high number of road accidents in Malaysia.
"The new curriculum is vital to inculcate safe and responsible driving among road users.
"However, any cost related to the implementation of the new syllabus has to take into account the financial impact it will have on Malaysians," he said.
The implementation of KPP was originally scheduled to begin on Aug 1.

The implementation of Kurikulum Pendidikan Memandu (KPP) due to begin on the 1st August will be postponed until further notice
