TODAY we celebrate Teachers Day.
It is the day when we salute the many figures who have shaped us and made a difference in our life.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in an exclusive interview with Astro AWANI recently smilingly said he remembers the names of the teachers who taught him in school.
"I still remember their names -- the teachers who taught me from Primary One right up to secondary school," said Ahmad Zahid.
The 63-year-old politician said he valued his teachers' contributions and admitted that he maintained close ties with them.
"Until today, I have maintained close ties with those who are still alive and the family members of teachers who have passed on," he said.
"I appreciate and value their contributions as they religiously carried out their duties," he added.
Many lessons down the line, Ahmad Zahid candidly reminisced about his school days and being labelled 'a teacher's pet'
As an active student in school, Ahmad Zahid humbly said he was constantly placed top in his class and made a monitor in primary and secondary schools
In conjunction with the Teachers Day celebration, Ahmad Zahid called on all teachers to be consistent and sincere in educating their students.
He also acknowledged the challenges faced by teachers today.
