NAJIB: It is my intention to fully cooperate in the investigation into this case considering that it has resulted in various allegations and slander.
Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he will give his full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the controversial political donations totaling RM2.6 billion which had been linked to state investment fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
In a brief media statement today, the Prime Minister said he will give his cooperation and statement to the MACC so that the investigation can be completed as soon as possible.
"It is my intention to fully cooperate in the investigation into this case considering that it has resulted in various allegations and slander," he said.
He said Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had requested him to testify before the MACC on the matter.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed in a statement earlier today had said the agency had contacted the premier where he had agreed for his statement to be recorded.
He also expressed hope that their investigation would be resolved before the year ends.
MACC, however, still require access to two key witnesses who are still abroad for their statements – the directors of SRC International.
On Nov 5, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said had said all questions pertaining to the RM2.6 billion political donation will be answered in the Dewan Rakyat on Dec 3 – the final day of the sitting.
