Food unites people.
This is especially true when it comes to Malaysians’ favourite food, the Nasi Lemak.
The “I Eat Nasi Lemak” event that took place at the TM Convention Centre today, is a perfect example of the love.
People came in droves to taste a variety of the mouth watering dish, served up by 20 of the best Nasi Lemak sellers in the country.
So many people came to the event that they were forced to stand to eat while the queue stretched out up to the main door.
Many of the Nasi Lemak sellers, who thought they brought enough food until closing time at 5pm, were cleaned out by 12 noon.
Among the stalls that ran out of food by 12pm include Nasi Lemak Bus Stand, Nasi Lemak Tanglin and Nasi Lemak Village Park.
Among the popular stalls were Nasi Lemak Kukus Kangkung FAM, Nasi Lemak Famous and Nasi Lemak Ali Pulau Pinang.

In fact, Nasi Lemak Ali Pulau Pinang had one of the longest queues, with the crowd eyeing the steaming rice hungrily.
With the nasi lemak being freshly packed as it was ordered, many said they did not mind standing in the queue for hours.
Razak Sharil Othman, 35, said he queued up for two hours to get his hands on seven packets of Nasi Lemak Ali Pulau Pinang.
“I have heard tales of this Nasi Lemak being one of the best Nasi Lemak ever, so I don’t mind waiting for two hours,” said the engineer from Kepong.
The Rendang Ayam Cili Api was the main attraction of Nasi Lemak Kukus Kangkung FAM.
Ran by four brothers, who is continuing with the recipe their mother taught them, no wonder the original stall in SS5 Kelana Jaya is always packed with people.

Nasi Lemak famous on the other hand, stood out for their fried chicken, which is marinated for a day with lemongrass and curry powder, and fried until crispy and golden brown in colour.
Organiser FriedChillies Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Adly Rizal, said this is the fourth year they are organising the event.
“We have been around since 1998, so we have a list of the best Nasi Lemak. For this event, we shorlisted 20 from about 70 stalls.

“We expected about 15,000 to 18,000 people would come to the fair and we are happy with the crowd turnout,” he said.
Visitors going to the fair can purchase the food using special RM10 coupons bought at the event.
