A housewife was charged in the Magistrate's Court here Friday with two counts of giving support to terrorist act through Facebook last month.

Azizah Md Yusof, 54, only nodded her head after the charge was read before Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused, who was represented by lawyers Nadzarin Wok Nordin and KC Suzalena Salleh, as the case comes under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad, who prosecuted, then asked the court to fix an early date for mention for the prosecution to apply for the case to be transferred to the High Court.

Before the proceeding started, Azizah, who has five children, was seen crying in the dock as family members swamped around to hug her.

On the first count, she was charged with giving support to terrorist act through her 'Wan Jah' Facebook posting at https://www.facebook.com/wan.jah.184?fref=ts.

The offence was allegedly committed at Division E8, Special Branch, 24th Floor, Tower 2, Bukit Aman police headquarters here at about 2pm last April 24.

Azizah is charged under Section 130J(1)(b) of the Penal Code, which is punishable with imprisonment for life or for a term not exceeding thirty years, or with fine, and shall also be liable to forfeiture of any property used or intended to be used in connection with the commission of the offence, if found guilty.

She is also charged with committing the same offence through the Facebook posting of 'Azizah Yusof' at the same place, time and date.
