Home Ministry to set up more comprehensive border security agency

The Home Affairs Ministry will set up a more comprehensive border security agency, said Department of Internal Security and Public Order director, Datuk Muhammad Fuad Abu Zarim.
He said the agency would combine the roles of all enforcement agencies operating at the border and would be led by the police.
"Several workshops and discussions are being held between the 17 relevant agencies to determine the format and more effective ways to address issues at the border, especially in Kedah and Kelantan."
He said this to reporters after handing over three Sealegs Amphibious boats to East Region Marine Police Force at Pengkalan Kubor Marine Police Base here Tuesday.
Also present were Kelantan police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim and Bukit Aman Marine Police Commander, SAC Abdul Rahim Abdullah.
