BANGKOK: A high-powered motorcycle expedition will be promoting Malaysia as a unique destination for bike enthusiasts in the region.

Malaysian ambassador to Thailand Datuk Jojie Samuel said there is a growing interest among high-powered motorcyclists in Thailand to participate in expeditions in Malaysia where they can explore, savour the culinary delights, and appreciate the arts and cultural heritage.

"Touring Malaysia by this mode is another means of promoting the tourist destinations in the country. It also promises participants a fun experience while they enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of Malaysia," he told Bernama.

Such expeditions also strengthen the ties and cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand.

Earlier, Jojie flagged-off the "Ride To Malaysia" participants.

About 100 high-powered motorcycle riders and pillion riders from Thailand will embark on a 4,000 km four-day journey starting today on Bangkok-Sadao-Kedah-Pulau Pinang-Perak-Phatthalung-Bangkok route.

He added that all nine Malaysia-Thailand border gates have been opened.
