Cloud seeding will be carried out for three days starting today to reduce the impact of the current haze which has blanketed much of the country.

Malaysian Meteorological Department Atmospheric Science and Cloud Seeding division director Maznorizan Mohamad said the cloud seeding on the first day would cover the Klang Valley, southern Perak, western Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and the south and west of Sarawak.

He said two Royal Malaysian Air Force Hercules C130 aircraft based in Subang and Kuching would be used in the operation.

"Rain can be expected several hours after the cloud seeding process is carried out and last up to an hour. It is hoped this will ease the haze in the areas concerned," she said when contacted by Bernama, today.

She said the cloud seeding is conducted by taking into account cloud conditions, suitable and stable atmosphere and damp air at the time it is carried out.
