Another incinerator will be built to accommodate the growing capacity of solid waste in the country.
It will be built next to the solid waste transfer station in Taman Beringin, Kepong.
Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said, among others the incinerator will help Alam Flora in the cleaning work around Kuala Lumpur.
"At the moment it is not enough, we are planning to build an incinerator next to the station and this incinerator will have the latest technology,” he said.
Currently the station is only able to accommodate up to 1,700 tons of solid waste.
Due to the increasing amount of solid waste, it had received a total of 2,400 tonnes per day thus exceeds the amount specified in the station.
Meanwhile, he said the government is committed in tackling the problem of solid waste and public cleansing.
Apart from that, the ministry will also step up the efforts to implement the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007.
Besides law enforcement, the government is also looking at the opportunities to cooperate with developers in building a better solid waste disposal system as well as recycling facilities in residential areas.
