The General Operations Force (GOF) will join in the search and rescue operation for two men who were reported missing at Pos Pulat jungle here since June 13.
Gua Musang District Police chief Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail said the search operation would be further intensified with the assistance from GOF.
"So far, the search operation involved nine personnel from the police and Department of Civil Defence and five villagers," he said when contacted by Bernama Sunday.
Zarani Abdullah Zawawi, 37, and an Orang Asli, Sudin Salleh, in his 30s, from Kampung Kuala Lah here, were reported missing after they left for the jungle to look for 'kemuning' woods.
It was reported that the duo would normally take only one or two weeks to search for the woods but this time they had been gone for almost three weeks.
Zarani's wife, Maskah Ab Kadir, 37, lodged a police report on Thursday on their disappearance after the villagers mounted the search since Wednesday.
The villagers, however, only found a Proton Iswara car that belonged to Zarani near the edge of the Pos Pulat jungle.
He said so far, the search operation had covered two kilometres of the jungle.
"We believe the men were lost in the jungle and did not find their way out as the leads we have showed that they were only making their way into the jungle," he said, adding that there was no leads to indicate the duo made an exit.
