KUALA LUMPUR: The three new faces contesting three parliamentary constituencies in the Federal Territory in the 15th general election (GE15) are banking on their career background and political experience to assist their respective constituents.
Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) candidate for the Batu parliamentary seat, Wan Azliana Wan Adnan, who will be contesting on the Pejuang ticket, intends to use her experience in the field of law to provide legal assistance to the community.
On the third day of campaigning, the litigation lawyer said she received various complaints from the residents, including the issue of high legal fees for the conversion of ownership of apartment units.
"If possible, I want the people in the country to have access to free legal assistance, just like how we have access to free medicine," she said when met during campaigning at the Taman Sri Murni Apartment area here today.
Wan Azliana is involved in a 10-cornered fight in the Batu parliamentary constituency against, among others, incumbent P. Prabakaran from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and former incumbent Tian Chua (Independent).
Meanwhile, PH's candidate for the Putrajaya parliamentary seat, Dr Noraishah Mydin Abdul Aziz, who is the sole person with disabilities (PwD) contesting the GE15, said she is ready to mobilise the whole workforce to help the people in the Federal Government's administrative area.
The academic, who has been suffering from spina bifida (a type of neural tube defect) since birth, is set to present five key points in her manifesto which, among others, involve the welfare of civil servants.
Noraishah Mydin will contest the Putrajaya parliamentary seat against five other candidates, including Barisan Nasional incumbent Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Bersatu vice-president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
The Setiawangsa parliamentary candidate from BN, Datuk Seri Dr Izudin Ishak, who is often close to the residents since he is the UMNO Division chief there, plans to raise issues faced by them at a higher level if he wins the seat on polling day on Nov 19.
He is determined to help resolve various issues, among them problems regarding roads, facilities and recreation centres besides providing a stable economy for the locals.
Izudin faces a six-cornered fight involving, among others, incumbent Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (PH) and lawyer Nurul Fadzilah Kamaluddin (PN).
