SUNGAI PETANI: The National Indian Muslim Alliance Party (IMAN) joins Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) on the realisation that the Malay vote is now divided and the party could no longer move on its own, said its president Datuk Mohammed Mosin Abdul Razak.
He said this followed the dynamics of the country's politics which resulted in only three political coalitions namely Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and GTA being able to compete to win the votes of the Malays in the 15th General Election (GE15).
"We realise we cannot move solo. That is the reality we have to accept. If we are headstrong, we will not achieve our goals. So, we held talks with Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) to establish GTA," he told Bernama when met here today.
He said GTA was also established because all its component parties, namely Pejuang, IMAN, Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra), Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa) and Gabungan Bangsa have similar goals and can work together.
"After discussing, we agreed that what we want is to together uphold our religion, race and country. We also promised to stay away from corruption," he said.
Besides Mohammed Mosin, IMAN has fielded four other candidates who will be contesting on Pejuang's ticket in GE15, namely for the Tanjong Malim and Teluk Intan parliamentary seats in Perak, Putatan (Sabah), Pasir Gudang (Johor) and Bagan (Penang).
