Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zamry Abdul Kadir has called on the federal government to further reduce the ceiling prices of chicken for the Aidilfitri to ease the burden of the lower income group.
"As chicken is a price-controlled item, if the suppliers want to raise the prices, they will go up based on several factors.
"However, I hope the prices of chicken can be further reduced," he told reporters after presenting Aidilfitri aid to his 113 foster children from various races here today.
The ceiling prices of chicken during the festive season have been reduced to RM7.70 per kg for standard birds, RM6.40 for live chickens and RM8.50 for super chickens (dressed and cleaned) from next Friday.
