Four-month-old baby girl chokes to death on milk

A four-month-old daughter of a Sinar Harian reporter allegedly died after choking on milk at her babysitter' s house in Section 19, here Monday.
In the incident around 1.30pm, Aira Amira Nurul Ridhuan, the firstborn of Sinar Harian reporter, Nurul Ridhuan Nor Ashaha, 32, and Norhafiza Che Abdullah, 27, was said to be unconscious when awakened by her babysitter.
According to Nurul Ridhuan, earlier, his daughter was asleep in her cradle after being fed milk by the babysitter.
"Around 9am, I sent my daughter to the babysitter's house, but about 1.30pm, the babysitter informed me that my daughter was unconscious before rushing Aira to the nearby clinic then the Shah Alam Hospital (HSA).
"The hospital doctor then confirmed that Aira had died around 3.10pm," he said when met by reporters, adding that a postmortem was carried out before bringing his daughter's body back to his village in Felda Besout, Sungkai to be buried.
"I had just started work after taking leave for a week to celebrate Hari Raya with my family in the village," said Nurul Ridhuan who was still distraught over the tragedy.
Meanwhile, Shah Alam police chief ACP Shafien Mamat when contacted by Bernama said the police received a report from the hospital on the incident at 3.35pm and were waiting for the postmortem results to identify the actual cause of death and if any follow-up action was needed.
