KUCHING: The situation in flood-hit areas in Sarawak returned to normal after the remaining two relief centres in Limbang district in northern Sarawak were closed at 2 pm today.
According to the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, the relief centres at Dewan Kampung Bidang and Dewan Buloh Baloi were shut after the 52 victims from 17 families there were allowed to return to their homes.
Floods hit several areas in northern Sarawak following heavy rain since Wednesday.
In SABAH, the number of flood victims at relief centres dropped sharply to 710 people from 187 families as of 4 pm today, compared to 3,435 evacuees from 913 families this morning.
The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee said in a statement that 17 relief centres in Tenom were closed this afternoon, leaving only three centres still in operation in the district, housing 118 people from 34 families.
The number of evacuees in Beaufort dropped to 592 people from 153 families, housed in four centres.
